Created during a time of reflection caught between choices, “Life is a Dance” is the tug of war between taking action and accepting defeat.

The illustration and type reflected how I felt at the time; visualizing what I was going through allowed me to process my thoughts by making something out of them. The feelings of instability and uncertainties are reflected in the free-form letters and shrugging figure, who looks defeated but is full of hope.
In life, there will always be things you can’t control or curve balls you don’t expect. Sometimes you do just have to accept and let them happen, but that also doesn’t mean that you don’t have agency. At the end of the day, it’s about not giving up and doing what you can anyway despite it all.
This piece was featured at Imprints Recollected at Pablo Post Gallery, an exhibit that explored the ideas of imprints and memories through traditional and digital art, and a myriad of several art forms. The show ran from March 14-April 24, 2026.
As part of the event, I hosted a talk and workshop on creating custom letters and type. I shared case studies of previous work, and step by step processes of the methods I practice when creating type pieces.
Attendees shared the letters they created inspired by space, plants, sharks, and vegetables.
